Style | The HD3 was one of our most popular selling bikes last year, and rightly so, a beautiful frame, with an agile and playful ride , the bike was however not so dissimilar to the shorter travel Mojo 3 and there was some cross over between the two bikes. This therefore gave the designers at Ibis the possibility of morphing the new HD4 into a more capable bike over rough and steep terrain, making it more of a longer and slacker enduro bike. The result is just that, almost 2 degrees slacker than the HD3 and a longer reach across the board (up by 4mm on small, to 34mm on XL), increasing the wheelbase over the HD3 by 51mm on the large bike. This put the wheel quite far out in front of you, giving the bike great stability over loose, wet, off camber or steep terrain. The bike still has the great climbing and pedalling characteristics of all the DW link and a steep seat angle keeps you over the middle of the bike, it does however give up a tiny amount of prowess over the HD3 riding up steep technical climbs due to that slack head-angle, a price worth paying for most people wanting all out speed on the descents and singletrack. The seat tube length has unlike the rest of the bike got shorter, this allows the use of longer dropper posts, getting the seat further down for those technical descents, with most riders being able to spec at least 150mm droppers. The suspension at the rear has increase from 150mm to 153mm and is specced with the super adjustable Fox Float X2 shock , with both high and low speed compression and rebound adjustments. Although this is a large bodied shock there is still just enough room for a bottle under the shock. Linkages and the carbon layup have also been beefed up the handle the loads and increase the stiffness needed for a more capable bike. Piloted to a team win at the 2017 Enduro word series, and the subject of some already stellar reviews, the bike has already proved itself! Accepts 27.5" tires in 2.3", 2.5", 2.6 and 2.8" Plus size dw-link suspension, as always Boost 148mm rear/110 Front axle 6" (153mm) of rear wheel travel Carbon fiber monocoque frame and swingarm 160mm Travel fork recommended, approved for 170mm Weight for the frame and shock, size medium, gloss finish: 6.6 lbs (2.98 Kg) 64.9º head angle Shock: Fox Float X2, with climb switch, 7.875x2.25", rider-tunable damping settings ISCG 05 compatible with removable adapter is available Threaded bottom bracket Super versatile internal cable routing including internal dropper routing Included polycarbonate down tube cable guard Chain stay length: 16.9" 160mm post mount, 203mm maximum rotor size Tapered Head Tube and Steerer Dual row angular contact bearings on the drive side of the lower link.
